Chinese shares opened higher on Monday, the first trading day of 2015, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opening 0.74 percent, or 23.95 points higher at 3,258.63 points.
The smaller Shenzhen Component Index opened at 11,150.98 points, up 1.24percent, or 136.35 points.
