Guangzhou residents enjoy higher disposable income

Guangzhou (CNS) – Residents of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, enjoyed an 11 percent GDP increase in 2011 compared to last year, leaving an average of 34,300 yuan of disposable personal income for downtown citizens, according to the Guangzhou Statistics Bureau.

The bureau predicted that Guangzhou's GDP will reach 12.38 trillion yuan in 2011, nearly double that of 2006. And the budget for the country will reach 96 billion yuan, up 18.1 percent over last year.

People's living conditions were improved in 2011 thanks to this increase in personal income, said the bureau, adding that the total value of the sale of consumer goods is expected to reach 522 billion yuan in Guangzhou by end of year, up 16.5 percent since last year.

Residents living in the city center had 28,000 yuan to spend on things they like in 2011, which 37 percent of this went to service industries. By contrast, people residing in rural areas on average spent about 10,100 yuan.
