Dar-es-Salaam (CNS) – A 36-episode Chinese television drama about the relationship between a bride and her mother-in-law has made a big splash in Tanzania.
9 episodes have played in three weeks in Tanzania, said a leader of Tanzania State Station, adding that much of the audience feedback has been positive.
"Tanzanians know more about Chinese people's lives through the drama, and see how their own lives resonate with Chinese family life", he said, adding that Tanzanian people are curious about China's development and they desire to hear more from the Chinese about the experience of constructing a country.
It is the first time a Chinese drama has been dubbed into Swahili to make it convenient for 100 million people in East Africa to watch, said Liu Dongmeng, China's cultural counselor to Tanzania. Two local super stars were invited to do the dubbing work with help from a few Chinese Swahili speakers in China.
