Sidney (CNS) -- Fourth-seeded Li Na eased effortlessly into the second round of the Australian Open with a methodical 6-0, 6-3 trouncing of fifth-seed Russian qualifier Ekaterina Makarova in barely an hour on Monday.
Ranked second in last year's tournament, Li Na has returned to form since her downturn after winning the French Open.
Another Chinese player, 17th seed Peng Shuai, didn't make it to the last 16, defeated by her Slovak opponent Dominika Cibulková.
