Zhengzhou (CNS) -- The first echelon formation of a Chinese peacekeeping force to South Sudan left Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport for Juba, the capital of South Sudan, on Wednesday evening, to execute an eight-month mission in the city of Wau.
The 275 peacekeepers from the Jinan Military Region in east China will be responsible for supporting engineering teams engaged in road, bridge, airport and barracks construction projects.
The soldiers are rich in earthquake relief work experience, and have been intensively trained for emergencies.
They will later be reinforced by 63 medical experts in two batches.
