Chinese artists respond to German's questions

Beijing (CNS) – China will hold an event named "China's Culture Year" in Germany to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.

An embarrassing moment ensued during the press conference given by China's Culture Ministry on 12 January, when a German journalist asked about whether politics influenced the list selections, specifically the exclusion of a certain well-known Chinese artist from the forthcoming art exhibition.

The art director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra answered the question by saying that art should be treated purely as art; political factors are not always involved just because an artist is not invited to join in every exhibition.

Meanwhile, the head of National Art Museum of China claims that China has not banned or black-listed any artists, and the art exhibition list was drawn up by professional exhibition-organizers.

The China's Culture Year will kick off on January 30 in Berlin.
