Beijing (CNS) -- The Ministry of Health released on Tuesday a state plan for drinking water monitoring in 2012, covering radioactive indexes in 30 kilometer diameters around nuclear plants.

Results of water tests in urban, rural and nuclear plant surroundings will be released regularly on the Internet.

Power plants both fully functioning or under construction are included, scattering throughout Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Fujian in the east of China, Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi in the south, and Liaoning in the northeast.

Water sampling around the nuclear power plants will be carried out every rainy season and every dry season, at the sources of water, near waterworks, and from household taps as well, depending on the nature of local water supply systems.
