Beijing (CNS) – Two Chinese doctors from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDCP) have completed their tasks in Namibia and Nigeria to help supervise and control the spread of polio. It is the first time for Chinese disease-control experts to participate in an international medical project related to polio in Africa.

The two experts Yi Zundong and Xia Weiguo set out for Africa in October last year. They investigated polio epidemics, made reports on the system of disease supervision/control and gave suggestions to local medical departments.

The project of eradicating polio was agreed upon jointly by the CCDCP, the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
