New York (CNS) -- The exhibition "Chinese Art in an Age of Revolution" featuring classic works by deceased painter Fu Baoshi is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as of Friday.

The "Monet of China," as the museum's Asian department director Maxwell Hearn calls Fu, created many moving pieces with his unique cultural interpretation and artistic vision throughout his eventful lifetime.

Most of the exhibited works were created after the foundation of the PRC. The highlight "This Land So Rich in Beauty" created by Fu and Guan Shanyue, hangs at the Grand Hall of the People to welcome state guests and serve as a symbol of China's national art.

Fu's works are popular on the auction market. In 2010, "The Song of the Pipa Player" sold for 70.08 million Hong Kong dollars (about US$9.03 million).
