Guilin (CNS) -- A Valentine's Day bouquet of 52 "golden beauties," a new breed of rose that is painted gold, wrapped in white gauze, and embellished with white feathers, is priced at 10,000 yuan (about US$ 1,587.6) at a local flower shop in Guilin, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
As with the shop's previous experiments with blue and black roses, this type was introduced from Korea and is the first of its kind sold in Guilin, the shop's owner told CNS.
Orders came in for the new roses, sparked by sincere wishes for a love as enduring as the precious metal gold and as persistent as 10,000 years.
Other novel and affordable gift combinations, such as flowers with chocolates or dolls, are selling as briskly as they usually do on the romantic holiday.
Two dozen classic red roses go for around 300 to 400 yuan, or about eight to 15 yuan each, and this bouquet is still the public's favorite.
