China’s first bio-security defense system built

Beijing (CNS) -- China's first "bio-security defense system" developed by researchers Cao Wuchun and Li Song at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS) has taken first prize for National Science and Technology Progress at the 2011 National Science and Technology Awards conference held on February 14.

The bio-security defense system, specifically the establishment and application of emerging infectious disease prevention and control technology system projects, has gathered all 60-year AMMS achievements in this regard.

The team established its stellar reputation during the national fights against SARS, bird flu and H1N1, as well as other significant epidemic prevention tasks after the Wenchuan earthquake during the Beijing Olympics, the Shanghai Expo, for international peacekeeping, and the Haiti earthquake.
