Shijiazhuang (CNS) – An ancient tomb group being explored in Cangzhou City of central China's Hebei Province was found to contain a dozen famous persons including emperor, king and marquis of the Han Dynasty (202BC-206AD), the local heritage protection center announced on Wednesday.

The heritage protection center of Hebei Province said it initially completed a field investigation of the 37 units comprising the largest-sized ancient tomb group.

The tomb cluster was declared a State Cultural Relics Protection Site at the beginning of the 1990s.

Since the second half of last year, the archaeological team led by Bai Xiaoyan has utilized a satellite-fed Global Positioning System and other advanced technologies, said their team leader. To date they have collected only basic information on the tombs, including their shape, size, appearance and distribution throughout the burial chamber .
