Beijing (CNS) – The traditional noodle restaurant Yiwan Ju, located in the Fangzhaung District of Beijing, is welcoming 20 percent more customers than usual since Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife visited on February 9. The dish prepared especially for Harper is attracting a lot of people who just have to give it a try.
The restaurant manager surnamed Zhang said the Harpers ordered traditional Beijing food, including two dishes of mustard pickled cabbage and pork shanks soaked in a mixed broth. Harper apparently likes his mustard and dipped his shanks frequently.
Manager Zhang said the restaurant was surprised to see Harper eating pork shanks with mustard, but thought it innovative, so they kept it as a new dish and named it after Harper.
Many patrons are making queries about the visit, looking for details of the couple's dinner here, and restaurant employees repeat the story of the scene again and again.
