Beijing (CNS) -- A Chinese national was killed in a train derailment in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, local time, the Chinese embassador to Argentina confirmed the next day.
Three other Chinese had minor injuries and left the hospital after treatment, revealed the authority.
By the 23rd local time, reports were that 50 people had perished, and 703 others had sustained injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The accident took place where the population of Chinese merchants is relatively dense. The Chinese embassy immediately put in place an emergency consular protection plan to mitigate any harm to local Chinese citizens.
Official Zhang Lin expressed his condolences to the family of the lost and offered assistance on behalf of the embassy.
