Guizhou (CNS) – The marriage custom of "Jia Lang", which means a man goes to live in the house of his in-laws after getting married, persists to this day in a Yao nationality village of Guizhou province.

Days ago, the wedding ceremony of "Jia Lang" was held on the early morning in the village Baiweng of Guizhou Province, CNS reported on February 27.

The marriage rituals are different from traditional ones in which groom takes the leading role; here the bride Deng Yinyan took the responsibility of welcoming groom Zhao Jinwan at his parents' house.

"No matter where we live, my wife and I will take good care of you." the groom Zhao promised his parents before he took his dowry with him to his new bride's house.

At 4 am, the couple held the actual ceremony at the bride's home. From that moment on, the groom assumed his wife's family name.

Twenty six men in the village have followed the unique marriage tradition in recent years. The Yao nationality here holds a peaceful attitude towards this and no one judges or discriminates.

"These 26 men are happily married and have kids or even grandkids already." said the village head Zhao Yuanfu.
