Nanning (CNS) – Its increasingly closer cooperation with ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) has prompted Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to build a comprehensive logistics system to bridge between itself and ASEAN by road and sea, according to the province's official source.
In 2011, bilateral trade between Guangxi and ASEAN nations hit US$362.85 billion, 23.9 percent up over the 2010 figure. The expanding economic and trade exchanges need convenient, effective logistics support.
At present, the Beibu Gulf bonded logistics system is taking shape, with Nanning as the transportation hub and coastal zones as the stations, including Beihai Export Processing Zone and Qinzhou Bonded Port.
Despite China's export and import declines last January compared with the same period last year, Guangxi experienced positive growth with eight other provinces and regions and ranked fifth regarding growth speed. Of these, trade with Beibu Gulf Economic Zone played a leading role, with an increase of 18 percent.
In 2012, Guangxi will accelerate the development of the modern logistics cities of Naning, Qingzhou and Yulin, reform the logistics management system, reduce tax burdens, ensure smooth transportation and so on, announced its chairman Ma Biao.
