Nanning (CNS) – The police of Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, captured another gang member suspected of drug dealing on the Vietnam-China border in the early hours of Tuesday. That adds another victory to a week of triumphs for Guangxi law enforcement where officers smashed three international drug dealer networks, apprehended 14 suspects and seized 12.042 kg of heroin.
The traffickers made use of the port cities of Chongzuo and Pingxiang to detours across the border to Vietnam , a local policeman told CNS on Tuesday.
Drug dealing is usually a gang or family activity, and that made our job more difficult, said Zhang Dehuan, the drug control team leader at the local police bureau. Zhang added that family members have close ties, trust each other and make very effective teams, conditions that make detection, infiltration and capture very challenging.
It is known drugs here have their origins mainly in the Golden Triangle region and are sold in Guangdong and Hainan provinces and other areas.
In China, a person caught smuggling more than 50 grams of heroin is liable to death penalty.
