Urumqi (CNS) -- An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitudes struck Ulugqat County in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 0:05 a.m. on Friday, according to the regional earthquake authority. No death or casualty has been reported.
Later, another 3-magnitude quake hit its Kuqa County at 8:36 a.m.
Statistics show that since February, 17 earthquakes higher than a 3 on the scale have visited the intersection of Ulugqat Country and Artux city, the strongest being a 5.3-scale quake centered in Barkol County.
Most of the earthquakes occurred south of Mount Tianshan, and fortunately, while some buildings were damaged no casualties were noted.
