Hangzhou (CNS) – To date, the government of Zhejiang Province has offered 233 residence permits to overseas talents, said a local official Yao Zhiwen on March 5.
The local government began to issue the Residence Permit for Overseas Talents last May as a measure to boost the local economy and enhance entrepreneurship.
The residence permit is nicknamed the "red card". The permit holder has access to a series of favorable polices, covering residence, settlement, children's education, housing and other aspects of work and community life.
"The red card policy gets credit for both employers and high-end overseas talents," said Yao.
Yao added the local government also provides financial supports for budding entrepreneurs who want to start a business here. For instance, it offers a fund of no less than 10 million yuan to first-class international business teams and a minimum of five million yuan to domestic talents.
