Beijing (CNS) – An official evaluation mechanism to gauge the ecosystem of Three Gorges Reservoir is underway, said Yin Weilun on March 6, an academician that took part in the planning.
Yin Weilun is a member of CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and director of the Agricultural Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The Three Gorges Project has made significant progress with respect to flood control and power generation, said Yu, but the project is far from being finished as we still have the arduous task of restoring its ecosystem.
Meeting that goal will be a long haul dependent on an effective evaluation mechanism, emphasized Yu.
Yin said at present, some ecosystem restoration is underway at Three Gorges, including increasing forest coverage on the reservoir banks and other landslide prevention measures.
