Beijing (CNS) -- China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Corporation (CGNPC), a state-owned clean energy company, and the U.S. giant Duke Energy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Beijing on March 8, to start cooperating on nuclear power and other areas of clean energy. The MOU specifies shared operation management.
Duke Energy is the largest energy company and one of the three major nuclear power operators in the U.S. Their commercial and international businesses own and operate diverse power generation assets in North America and Latin America, including a portfolio of renewable energy assets.
In 2011, CGNPC ranked among the top ten companies for its safe operation and good performance in nuclear power. Its business covers nuclear power supply and service, and renewable energy among others.
CGNPC Chairman He Yu, speaking at the MOU ceremony, expressed his hope that both sides would explore broader areas of cooperation and create profits together. His counterpart at Duke Energy, James Rogers, said the signing of this MOU marks the start of a new phase in their cooperation.
