(CNS)—Huang Shizhan, a master who presides over two Taoist Temples in Shaanxi and Henan provinces, has been preaching the essence of Taoism to foreign disciples for over a decade in fluent English.

Taoism is a philosophy and a religious tradition in China that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao (道), the source and essence of everything that exists.

"Taoism is borderless and should be known by more people in the world," said Huang during his interview with a reporter from CNS days ago.

In the past ten years, he has established overseas Taoism associations in Mexico, Portugal, France and the UK, and has accepted over 30 foreign disciples from over twenty countries including the UK, France, the US and Germany.

Huang said at present a limited number of Taoist temples in China offer access to foreign Taoists and there are few Taoist adepts sufficiently qualified or inclined to spread Taoism to people of different cultural backgrounds.
