Beijing (CNS) -- Beijing police have solved the case of a hacker attack to the Chinese Software Developer Network (CSDN) and a leak of information on more than six million users, the authority announced on Tuesday.
This is the first time China had fined a website for leaking its user data since the state information security level protection system was activated.
The main cause of the leak was confirmed to be that China's largest software developer network failed to equip itself with a national-standard protection system and left themselves vulnerable to such attacks.
As of January this year, the municipal police department has inspected 106 websites that fall under its jurisdiction, and upgraded their safety levels accordingly.
