Hong Kong (CNS) -- China is home to both Kung Fu and the giant panda, but didn't make the box office smash Kung Fu Panda, or anything like it to rule domestic or international venues or markets - this is a conundrum that haunts Chinese minds.
This topic was once more put on the table at a film industry seminar held in Hong Kong on Tuesday. The discussion centered on how to get more Chinese films illuminating the international big screen. Foreign experts responded with solid advice.
"This flattered our team, because your jealousy proves our success," said Glenn Berger , screenwriter of Kung Fu Panda. "Maybe Chinese directors would hesitate to use a national treasure in a comic way, but foreigners felt free to do so," he explained.
"When you wonder how to explore the internet market, don't adopt a Hollywood narrative, but ensure the story itself touches the heart," suggested Hollywood film producer Tracey Trench.
