The luxurious cruise vessel
Shanghai (CNS) -- The Queen Mary II, which for five years held the title of the world's largest, tallest and most luxurious cruise ship, was berthed at Wusong Port in Shanghai at 5 a.m., Thursday.
The U.K funded its construction with US$ 1 billion and the made-in-France vessel has an aggregate tonnage of 148,528 tons and an upper passenger capacity of 2,800. Triple the length of a football court and as tall as a 23 story building, it carries world's largest floating library, dance hall and theater, as well as the only planetarium on the seas.
'The Queen' is on a 180-day world cruise with 2,470 passengers and 1,247 crew members aboard. Shanghai is her fifth stop, following Nagasaki in Japan.
After a 17-hour stopover in Shanghai, 'The Queen' will head for Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore.
