Guangzhou (CNS) -- A high proportion of citizens in the major metros Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong have offered negative feedback on situation governing charitable giving in China, according to a survey released by the Canton Public Opinion Research Center on Wednesday.

Some 2,012 citizens participated in interviews. In terms of the size and numbers of campaigns, 34 percent of interviewees declared the charity drives "appropriate", while 44 percent thought them "far from being enough". And for the results of events, 40 percent of interviewees thought that giving "was inherently limited or had little effect on changing the circumstances of those in need."

Regarding the intention to give to charity, 77 percent of interviewees indicated their willingness, and only 16 percent stated clearly they were unwilling to contribute to the social good.

It is worth noting that among the interviewees who want nothing to do with charitable giving, 25 percent declared their reason was they "don't trust organizers" or "don't believe the donation would be given to people in need."
