Beijing (CNS) -- Spokespersons for six national religious groups met the public in Beijing on Monday.

Dressed in their respective religious attire, they represent the Buddhist Association of China, the Daoist Association of China, the Islamic Association of China, the Catholic Church in China, the combined entity of the China Christian Council and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement, as well as the combined entity of the YM and YWCA.

The representatives briefed the media on their 2012 agendas and participated in a follow up Q&A session.

The Islamic Association of China will hold an Islamic cultural performance in Turkey in July, on the occasion of the 2012 China-Turkey Cultural Year.

The Daoist Association of China is sending Taoist classics, free of charge, to about 100 foreign Daoist organizations, national libraries, prestigious universities, and research institutes.

The intention is to form bridges between Chinese religious groups and non-members, to better inform the media and public about their organizations, by means of press conferences, briefings, interviews, news reports, and online interactions.
