Shanghai (CNS) -- Shanghai police apprehended nearly 800 suspects and seized illegal goods valued at 130 million yuan in more than 300 cases involving torts and fraud from January 1 till April 20, according to an official release on Tuesday.
The efforts included a campaign from April 20 to 26 aimed at the protection of intellectual property rights at Qipu Road, a business district known for its many small traders and stalls, where police demonstrated seized goods and updated the public.
Police said the counterfeiting of international luxury brands accounted for the lion's share of the trademark infringement crimes in Shanghai this year. For example, a large number of counterfeit Parker pens and ink valued at more than three million yuan were seized in Hongkou District recently.
