Shanghai (CNS) -- Half of Chinese interviewees born in the 1980s prefer hybrid or electric cars, a trend that is likely to affect the development of hybrid cars in the next five years, according to Deloitte's latest survey of the consumer choices made by Chinese people aged between 19 and 31.
The survey shows that 46 percent of all interviewees tend toward hybrid autos, while another 4 percent are interested in purely electric vehicles (EVs).
Despite the enthusiasm, only 7 percent of them will drive EVs in five years, the survey adds.
Deloitte's annual survey on youth consumption habits has been carried out in the U.S. for four years. It is the first time for the research to be conducted in China and Europe.
