Beijing protects former residences of celebrities

Beijing (CNS) -- Beijing announced on Tuesday the city will protect the original sites of the former residences of celebrities, including those of Kang Youwei, Li Wanchun and Liang Qichao. Irregular buildings in the yards of these immovable cultural relics will be demolished.

All former residencies will be renovated to the same standards used for ancient buildings.

The protection plan for the home in which Kang Youwei planned and organized the reformation during early 20th century also includes its approximately 2,000 square meter grounds.

Special surveillance has been arranged for these relics to guard against fire and other accidents.
