Beijing (CNS) -- The three-day holiday ending on Tuesday spurred consumption in Beijing, with local residents spending nearly two billion yuan.
According to statistics from the Beijing Commercial Information Consulting Center, the sales of 100 major service enterprises hit 1.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.4 percent.
The Xinjiang Goods Fair in Beijing had on-site sales of over two million yuan over the work-free period.
People partying or going on outings filled restaurants, visited snack huts and indulged in picnic supplies all spent predictably during the May holidays, but it was the Beijing International Auto Show that opened wallets for the big ticket items; car sales in Beijing Asian Games Village saw an increase of 28 percent.
