Shanghai (CNS) -- As of Saturday, passengers can fly to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and hop right on a high-speed train to Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Ningbo, or vice versa.

China Eastern Airlines (MU), in cooperation with the Shanghai Railway Bureau has launched services connecting MU flight passengers to 22 high-speed trains between the Hongqiao hub and the four cities. Flight and train tickets can be bought at the same time.

The coverage will be expanded to most major cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces across the Yangtze River Delta.

The comprehensive Hongqiao transportation hub is composed of an airport, a railway station, two metro lines, buses, and taxis. The railway station links three high-speed railway lines: Beijing-Shanghai, Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou. Locals will enjoy unprecedented convenience for weekend travel.

As Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Ningbo attract more and more hi-tech parks and multinational automakers, ship builders, and micro-electronics firms, the transfer service is expected to simplify multi-mode journeys between the delta and distant destinations.
