Shanghai (CNS) -- The Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau is restricting the inspection process of imported products claiming to be or labeled "organic," CNS reported on Monday.
Since China has not yet established mutually recognized standards for what constitutes organic products with other countries, therefore no imports are allowed to be labeled "organic" without legal documents that prove organic status by Chinese standards.
So-called "organic" products with no proof they meet the official standards established by China are required to exclude the organic symbols and labels before importation; failing that, they may be returned or destroyed.
