Lanzhou (CNS) -- Clean the house,, reconstitute the dried milk powder, add the bamboo—this is Liu Jiali's routine. She is a Giant Panda keeper at a zoo in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. The young woman has been caring for the "national treasure" for four years.
"The visitors can watch our giant pandas' lovely antics, such as rolling over, doing somersaults and begging for food. They are trained in these moves by me and other keepers," said Liu when interviewed on May 9.
The 27-year-old girl graduated from Northwest University for Nationalities. She has loved animals since she was a little girl. Now she is living her dream.
She emphasized the job not only needs skills, but a caring, patient heart. "You must be more considerate than a nanny," Liu said.
After four years of effort, Liu has earned the trust of two giant pandas who are her full time charges. Now she looks forward to seeing the pandas 'get married' so she can help them take care of their cubs.
