Guiyang (CNS) -- The embroidery work version of a Song-Dynasty panoramic painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival will debut at a high-end art auction fair in Hong Kong in days.
The work was completed by 28 women in 150 days, and at 33 meters in length with a width of 1.5 meters, is China's largest embroidery piece made by the Miao nationality.
The reserve price has been raised to 1.5 million yuan from the original 1.2 million yuan, CNS learnt on May 11.
Luo Feiyang, who organized its creation, revealed the women will also embroider versions of another nine great Chinese paintings.
Luo said if this form of intangible cultural heritage is to be protected, we must firstly ensure embroiders are able to make a living at it. Thus the promotion of this timeless art in the modern marketplace.
