Beijing (CNS) -- Two painting albums created by Qing (1644–1911) royal painter Jiang Tingxi fetched 47.15 million yuan (US$ 7.46 million) at the "Classical Chinese Painting" auction held on Monday during the China Guardian 2012 Spring Auctions.
A master of flower and bird paintings, Jiang was also a prestigious minister of the emperors Kangxi and Yongzheng.
At the next "Classical Chinese Calligraphy" auction, the item generating all the buzz was a poem handwritten by Ming (1368–1644) celebrity Li Dongyang which sold for 17.25 million yuan.
