Zhuhai police bust fake medicine gang

Zhuhai (CNS) -- Zhuhai police announced on Thursday that they had cracked down on a gang of 11 people making and selling fake medicines in the cities of Shenzhen, Huizhou and Zhuhai in Guangdong Province.

The gang ran a factory producing more than 120 varieties of fake drugs and is allegedly responsible for 12 severe criminal cases.

Chen Mouzhen, the head of the ring, started purchasing fake drugs to sell in February 2010, police said. He opened his own factory a year later, making quack medicines with white oil, peppermint oil, chili oil and cosmetic toners. The "medicines" were then delivered for storage in Shenzhen.

Further investigation is still underway, police said.
