Guangzhou (CNS) -- The Guangzhou Supercomputer Center will be established at Sun Yat-Sen University in the city's university zone, revealed the Guangzhou Scientific Information Bureau on its official website Monday.
The center will be surrounded by a series of science and technology labs and institutes. A "bio-island" to develop the hi-tech bio industry will also be added.
The city government signed an agreement with the National University of Defense Technology on March 26 to cooperate on the development of the Tian-2 supercomputer. According to the plan, the city will invest 1.8 billion yuan (US$284.59 million) in the center by 2015.
