Changchun (CNS) -- Nine young girls dressed in custom uniforms practiced kicking, punching and other moves in the sweltering heat in Changchun, Jilin Province on Tuesday. They are the first group of stewardesses to be trained as aviation security officers in northeast China, and are scheduled to begin executing tasks this June.

The girls range in age from 22 to 33 years old, and were selected last August from among the many flight attendants working for China Southern Airlines. The group later underwent "devil training" in Nanjing for two and a half months before heading to Changchun.

At present, they train eight hours every day. The ladies may appear vulnerable and quiet, but quickly become like "Charlie's Angels" when performing combat moves or riot control maneuvers.

In the event of emergencies, criminals will be less aware of females than males, so female security can use that as an advantage to control enemies, said Cui Chen, one of the training coaches.
