Beijing (CNS) – TV celebrity chef Martin Yan, host of the world famous cooking show "Yan Can Cook," demonstrated his style, skill and charisma in Beijing on Wednesday evening, for this year's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM).

U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke and wife attended the celebration, along with several other American officials and business delegates.

The event opened with a demonstration of Yan's unique eloquence both with the blade and the monogue, and held the audience's attention throughout the evening with an enchanting Kungfu opera performance.

The Asian community has been contributing greatly to the mainstream culture and history of the great American 'melting pot,' and Ambassador Locke is a perfect example of their outstanding achievement, Yan said.

An appreciation of gourmet cooking is borderless and binds all peoples together, Yan said and expressed his hope that China and the U.S. continue to befriend, and not antagonize, each other.
