Beijing (CNS) -- China's textile exports showed negative growth in the first four months of this year, according to an official source on May 27.
A declining market share was characteristic of all three major exporting markets - Japan, EU and the US, said China Textile Industry Association, but Chinese textile products on the EU market suffered the most severe slow down.
During this period, China's domestic market remained an important pillar of support for the textile industry, and will continue to be as long as the outlook for exports fails to inspire optimism. For enterprises above a designated size, the domestic output value actually increased by 15 percent and made up 84 percent of total sales value.
Wang Tiankai, chairman of the association, said the industry could do with a positive attitude towards future challenges. He suggested large-sized enterprises should move from scale growth to profit growth, and medium and small-sized ones develop focus, professionalism and strength.
