Shanghai (CNS) -- Shanghai will put more emphasis on an eco- friendly living environment, improved social security system and living standards, said Mayor Han Zheng, in an address at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Forum 2012 on Saturday.
Shanghai Forum is organized by Fudan University, and this year's theme is Strategies for 2011-2020. Shanghai aims to become an international center of economic activity, finance, trade and shipping by 2020, said Han.
IMF Deputy Director Zhu Min, former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. James Steinberg, Long Yongtu with the International Advisory Council of the Bo'ao Forum for Asia, and Dean Yuan Zhigang at Fudan University's School of Economics, also addressed the ceremony invitees.
More than 400 delegates from over 30 countries and regions attended the forum, with three high-end roundtables and ten sub forums focused on topics such as International Trade, Investment and Governance with the Intensifying Economic Crisis, New Mission for International Monetary Governance: A Win-win Situation, Creating a New Regional Order in East Asia, Low Carbonization, Security and Ever-increasing Demand: Restructuring of the Asian Energy System, to name just a few concentrations.
