Changsha (CNS) -- A collection of official porcelain and well-preserved Tang Dynasty (618–907) dragon kilns debuted on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the National Archaeological Park of Tongguan Kiln in Changsha, Hunan Province.
The park is located at an historically important site for underglaze porcelain that vanished during the Five Dynasties (907–960). At its peak it paralleled two other kilns in Zhejiang and Hebei provinces for chinaware exports.
Construction of the park started in 2009 with a budget of 520 million yuan. The first phase of the project has now been completed.
The exhibition contains a selection from the more than 60,000 relics recovered from the Tang ship "Heishihao" found in Indonesian waters in 1998.
