Chinese skating duo to coach new ice aces

中国“冰上伉俪”申雪、赵宏博将在今年的“冰上雅姿”演出结束后转型执教中国花样滑冰国家青年队。这是记者从11日举行的“2012年冰上雅姿盛典”新闻发布会上了解到的。

Beijing (CNS) -- China's golden duo on the ice, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, will hang up their skates this year and transfer their talent to coaching a new generation of figure skating aces in China's national youth team, it was announced at a news conference on Monday.

The organizers of the touring show Artistry on Ice, Shen and Zhao will perform to a piece of music called Our Two Decades, at the Beijing stop, a retrospective of shining moments in the twenty years they have skated side by side.

Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo announced their retirement from competitive skating after they won the gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. For the past three years, the couple has focused their energy on promoting figure skating via a series of shows.

Despite how much we love skating, said Zhao, the time has come to say goodbye, as we have been competing and performing for two decades now.
