Ningbo (CNS) -- Archaeological experts recently discovered a great number of relics in a sunken Qing vessel, including delicate blue and white porcelain, the Ningbo specialty Meiyuan stones, as well as Spanish silver coins and tin boxes.
The ship "Xiaobaijiao 1" was found during a marine investigation in 2008. The mid-scale merchant ship, about the size of two badminton courts, sank during the reign of Qing Emperor Daoguang (1821-1850).
The excavation of "Xiaobaijiao 1" started on June 4, 2012.
So far more than 500 objects have been found in the vessel, and many are precious relics. Everyday work on the wreck uncovers something valuable, said team leader Lin Guocong.
The vessel is well preserved and is possible to be restored, experts say.
