Halifax (CNS) -- Nova Scotia premier Darrell Dexter, along with nine other Canadian provincial premiers, is visiting China from September 13 to 20, in order to promote bilateral trade and introduce investment opportunities in his part of Canada, the official told CNS on Saturday, local time.
The visit is expected to enhance intergovernmental ties especially in terms of the economy, trade and education, but the 10 provinces will have different focuses.
Nova Scotia will take advantage of its deepwater port, and Prince Edward Island will emphasize its lobster exports. The three Maritime Provinces successfully prepared the ground for trade opportunities by producing a TV show in cooperation with a Chinese TV station in May, which was watched by more than 30 million domestic Chinese families.
This is the second provincial visit staged for Canada, after 13 Canadian premiers arrived as a group in November 2008.
