Chengdu (CNS) -- The heavy rainfall in Sichuan Province affected 1.89 million people in 29 cities and counties, causing seven deaths and leaving two people missing. Direct economic losses have been estimated at 340 million yuan, according to the local civil affairs department on July 2.
Strong rainfall hammered areas of the province from June 29 to July 1, and led to flooding, landslides and rock-mud flow disasters.
About 44,000 hectares of crops were damaged and emergency transfers of 11,257 people got them into safe zones for the duration.
Related departments have delivered relief supplies to the disaster-hit zones. For Wanyuan City alone, materials valued at 200,000 yuan were delivered, including cotton covers, instant packaged food and other necessities.
