Seda (CNS) -- Three millennium pagodas standing in a row and some adjacent ancient watchtowers were discovered recently in Seda County of Sichuan Province, the local bureau of cultural relics said on July 4.
Well-respected archaeologist Wen Yucheng, who specializes in Buddhist architecture, said the three cultural relics found in Xuri Village were built in the 11th or 12th century.
They are among the oldest pagodas ever found in the Tibetan region of Sichuan Province, and will contribute to the study of Tibetan Buddhism's spread throughout nomadic tribes, said Wen.
Despite having gone through several renovations, the look and original design of the pagodas has remained constant. The bottom is square in shape and their height is about 7.05 meters.
