Beijing (CNS) -- Heavy rainfall in the eastern part of Henan Province on Sunday delayed most trains on the Beijing-Kowloon and Longhai lines, according to the Beijing Railway Bureau.
July's accumulated rainfall in the city of Shangqiu has so far reached 397.9 millimeters, more than double the normal amount for the whole month, according to the local meteorological authority.
Fifteen trains connecting Beijing to cities across the country were postponed, including Anqing, Jining, Wuhu and Fuzhou.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday, the majority of bullet trains from Xiamen, Beijing and Shanghai to Fuzhou were held up.
Rainfall is moving north as the country enters the wet season and southern China receives frequent typhoons. The nationwide railway system is advised to take measures in advance of serious weather and natural disasters.
