Hong Kong (CNS) -- The Chinese University of Hong Kong is signing a cooperation agreement today with the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment (CMS) team of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on the study of particle physics.
The CERN's major research team ATLAS announced their discovery of the "God particle" or Higgs particle on July 4, a great leap forward in the exploration of the origin of the universe.
CUHK alumni at ATLAS contributed to the significant finding.
Dean Ng Cheuk-yiu of the CUHK Science Faculty and CMS spokesman Prof Joe Incandela are co-hosting the signing ceremony, where Higgs particle team convener Prof Albert de Roeck will share the latest update on the "God particle" project.
Postgraduates and scientists with the CUHK will be offered the experimental platform for instrumental physics, data analysis and informational technology studies.
